The Borderline Romantics are Charlie Wells - Vocals, Guitars, Harmonicas and Mandolin, Philip Nowe on Piano, Accordion and Vocals,Tracy Lee Canil on flute, six-string guitar, bass guitar, Accordion and vocals.
Singer/Guitarist Charlie Wells has been touring professionally since 1975 across Canada, based in Vancouver for 20 years and on Vancouver Island since then. He started out as a solo act in the era of the one man band and on to band work in the cabarets and pubs of the nation. Early on, Charlie developed an appetite for many genres of music, and has made variety a specialty.
Pianist Philip Nowe has many years of theory and study under master musicians from whom he learned Classical and Jazz. During his many stage performances, Philip has learned Popular music, R&R, Jazz, Blues and Country with equal thoroughness. He and Charlie have crossed many of the same paths along the trail of extensive road work.
Flutist Tracy Lee Canil is an accomplished and versatile performer, experienced in classical music, theatre productions, original projects and popular music.Tracy Lee has been involved in many community music works in the Comox Valley and North Island over the period of the last 20 years. She performs with many local theatre productions projects, baroque and classical chamber groups. Tracy Lee also provides healing therapeutic music weekly at St. Joseph’s hospital and other healing centres.
Borderline Romantics have concentrated on recording the first two originals written and produced by Charlie Wells. "O' Pieces" released in Dec. 2019 has been followed up by "Sailors Dream" March 28 2020.Some very fine playing has been captured in these two recordings.
